Bhubaneswar: In a major success for Odisha Vigilance, a former Revenue Inspector (RI) of Kaniha in Anugola district has been convicted in a bribery case.
The Special Judge, Vigilance, Angul today convicted Hadibandhu Pattanayak, former RI, Kaniha (Retired), who was charge-sheeted by Vigilance under Section 13(2) read with 13(1)(d)/7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 for demanding and accepting bribe from an applicant for submitting favourable reports in mutation cases.
The court sentenced him to undergo rigorous imprisonment for three years and imposed a fine of Rs 10,000.
Odisha Vigilance will now move the competent authority for stoppage of pension of the convicted former RI following his conviction, officials said.
