Bhubaneswar: A special vigilance court in Jeypore convicted a retired school inspector of Similiguda block in Koraput for demanding and accepting a bribe from a teacher. The court has sentenced Ganeswar Bhol to undergo rigorous imprisonment for two years and imposed a fine.

Bhol was found guilty under Section 13(2) read with 13(1)(d)/7 PC Act, 1988.

Bhol demanded a bribe from a teacher to facilitate the drawl of his General Provident Fund (GPF) temporary advance, which was required for his sister’s marriage. The vigilance had arrested him and submitted the charge sheet subsequently.

Following his conviction, the Odisha Vigilance Department will move the competent authority to stop Bhol’s pension.
