Bhubaneswar: The foundation stone for the extension of the old guest house at Unit-4 of the Odisha Legislative Assembly was laid recently in the presence of Speaker Surama Padhy and Deputy Speaker Bhabani Shankar Bhoi. Legislative Assembly Secretary Satyabrata Raut was also present.
Currently, the old guest house has 23 rooms but faces space constraints. To address this, construction of a three-storey extension building, estimated to cost over Rs 3.08 crore, will commence shortly. The new structure will add 16 rooms and will be connected to the existing building via a lift, covering an area exceeding 9,000 square feet. The project is expected to be completed by March 31, 2026.
Upon completion, the total number of rooms in the old guest house will increase to 39. The new guest house located near the OMC office has 18 rooms. Combined, the total accommodation capacity of the Assembly’s guest houses will rise to 57 rooms.
The upgraded facility will include online booking and round-the-clock security to ensure comfort and safety for former MLAs visiting Bhubaneswar.
Several senior Legislative Assembly officials attended the event.
