Bhubaneswar: Four persons were arrested in connection with the lynching case in Balianta. The arrest has triggered tension in the village. A ruckus broke out outside the police station between the deceased’s family and local villagers.
Police said they are examining the video footage of the incident and are on the lookout for another accused.
A youth was lynched by villagers in Balianta on Tuesday over allegations of misbehavior. Police have arrested four accused in the case and brought them to Balianta Police Station. The incident has triggered tension in the village.
The youth, Soumya Ranjan Swain, 32, of the Adashpur area in Cuttack, was beaten to death by villagers who accused him of misbehavior. Further investigation is underway.
Swain was working as a constable in the Government Railway Police (GRP) branch of Odisha Police.
