Balasore: In a tragic incident, a ‘108’ ambulance caught fire after hitting a stationary truck on NH 60 near Mirigimundi near Jaleswar in Balasore district on Sunday morning. Four persons including a patient and pharmacist suffered critical burn injuries in the incident.
The mishap took place in the wee hours of Sunday when the ambulance carrying three persons, including the patient was heading from Basta to Balasore hospital. The speeding ambulance hit a truck parked on the NH.
The truck driver fled soon fearing public uproar after the accident.
The injured were initially admitted to the district headquarters hospital. The pharmacist along with two others was later shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack for further treatment.
Police reached the spot and started an investigation into the circumstances that led to the mishap
