Bhubaneswar: Four distinguished individuals from Odisha were honoured with the prestigious Padma Shri awards by President Droupadi Murmu during the Civil Investiture Ceremony-I at the Ganatantra Mandap of Rashtrapati Bhawan on Monday. The ceremony saw the conferment of 4 Padma Vibhushan, 10 Padma Bhushan, and 57 Padma Shri awards for 2025.
The Odisha recipients include Adwaita Charan Gadanayak, a renowned sculptor from Dhenkanal, recognized for his contributions to art; Dr. Ashok Kumar Mahapatra, former Director of AIIMS Bhubaneswar, honored for his exemplary work in medicine; Durga Charan Ranbir, celebrated for his achievements in art; and Pratibha Satpathy, acknowledged for her contributions to literature and education.
The Padma awards are presented in three categories: Padma Vibhushan for exceptional and distinguished service, Padma Bhushan for distinguished service of a higher order, and Padma Shri for distinguished service in any field.
The event was attended by Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, several Union Ministers, and other dignitaries.
