Bhubaneswar: A tragic accident claimed the lives of four people, including a minor girl, in Nuapada district on Saturday. The incident occurred on National Highway 353 at Palasipani when two bikes collided while the riders were returning from a Rath Yatra in a nearby village.

According to reports, one bike lost control and hit another bike from behind, which resulted in the deaths of three on the spot. Two other bike riders were admitted to the hospital in critical condition but unfortunately succumbed to their injuries while undergoing treatment.

The deceased have been identified as residents of Gutupada village near Palsipani. The police have recovered the bodies and are investigating the incident.

This accident comes on the heels of another tragic incident in Puri district, where three young women, reportedly sisters, were killed in a collision between a scooter and an OSRTC bus near Pipili Overbridge. The women were travelling to Puri for darshan of Lord Jagannath when the accident occurred.
