Malkangiri: Four Maoist cadres were killed in an encounter with security forces in Chhattisgarh near Odisha’s Malkangiri district on Tuesday morning.
According to reports, the incident occurred in the forest area near Dhami village under Gagangaloor police limits in the Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh. The security forces comprising personnel from the DYRG, SIRPF, COBRA, Bastar Fighters and Bastar Battalion launched a search operation in the forests of Gangaloor. Seeing the security forces approach them, the Maoists hiding in the forest opened fire on the security personnel. Four outlawed members of the CPI(Maoist) were killed in the resultant gun battle.
The security forces have seized several sophisticated weapons; including AK-47, LMG, automatic gun, and Maoist material were seized from the area. Currently, search operations are underway in the area.
