Fresh Low-Pressure Area Likely To Form Over Bay Of Bengal Around Aug 25

Bhubaneswar: Odisha is bracing for a fresh low-pressure system, which is likely to form over the Bay of Bengal around August 25.

An IMD bulletin stated a fresh low-pressure area is likely to form over the northwest Bay of Bengal off Odisha-West Bengal coasts around 25th August 2025.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued warnings for widespread downpours, raising concerns about flooding and disruption. A Red Warning has been issued for Sundargarh district today, August 22, predicting heavy to very heavy rain with extremely heavy falls and thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds reaching 30-40 kmph.

An Orange Warning has been issued for Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sambalpur, and Jharsuguda districts, indicating a high probability of heavy to very heavy rainfall. Meanwhile, a Yellow Warning has been issued for several other districts, including Deogarh, Angul, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Balasore, Bhadrak, Rayagada, Ganjam, and Gajapati, advising residents to be aware of potential disruptions.

The IMD has also forecast heavy rain and thunderstorms for August 23, with a Yellow Warning issued for districts such as Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, and Gajapati.

Residents are advised to stay updated on the latest warnings and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety. The state government and disaster management authorities are closely monitoring the situation and are prepared to respond to any emergencies that may arise
