Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance sleuths arrested on Wednesday Arun Nayak, Beguniapada Block Social Security Officer (BSSO) in Ganjam district, for demanding and accepting Rs 6,000 bribe from a complainant for submitting inquiry reports in the latter’s favour and other eligible applicants for sanction of old age pension under the Madhu Babu Pension Yojana (MBPY Scheme) pending with him for a long time.
Following the bribe demand, the complainant approached the Vigilance authority who laid a trap to nab Nayak red-handed. Nayak was arrested today while accepting the bribe. The entire bribe money has been recovered from the possession of Nayak and seized.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches are in progress at three locations linked to Nayak from the disproportionate asset (DA) angle.
In this connection, a case (No. 05/23) has been registered under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018, at the Berhampur Vigilance police station.
