Bhubaneswar: Union Minister Giriraj Singh has called for the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian honour, to be awarded to former Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
Speaking to the media in Begusarai, Singh praised Patnaik’s enduring tenure and unwavering dedication to public service, which he credited for driving Odisha’s remarkable progress. Singh highlighted Patnaik’s pivotal role in transforming the state, citing his governance as a benchmark for impactful leadership in India.
“The contributions of leaders like Naveen Patnaik deserve national recognition. His efforts have significantly impacted the lives of millions and set new standards in governance,” Singh said.
Singh’s statement also included praise for Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, whom he credited for pulling the state out of the “jungle raj” era. He highlighted Kumar’s strides in improving infrastructure, healthcare, and education, and similarly advocated for him to receive the Bharat Ratna.
Singh’s statement is seen as part of the BJP’s broader effort to maintain alliance harmony while recognizing the contributions of stalwart leaders like Naveen Patnaik and Nitish Kumar.
