GoI Economic Advisor Kalyani Mishra

Bhubaneswar: Economic Advisor to the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India, Kalyani Mishra, will undertake a four-day visit to Odisha from July 13 to 16 to review and monitor the implementation of key social security initiatives, including the National Social Assistance Programme (NSAP) and the Centralised Public Grievance Redress and Monitoring System (CPGRAMS).

According to an official communication issued by the Department of Social Security and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (SSEPD), Government of Odisha, on Friday, Mishra will begin her visit in Bhubaneswar on July 13. She will hold review meetings with senior officials of the department to assess the progress of the two programmes and discuss measures to improve their implementation.

As part of the visit, the Economic Advisor will travel to Ganjam and Mayurbhanj districts from July 14 to 16 to conduct field inspections and obtain first-hand feedback on the delivery of social security benefits. She is expected to interact with beneficiaries of the National Social Assistance Programme and review the functioning of welfare schemes at the grassroots level.

The review will primarily focus on pension disbursement mechanisms, beneficiary coverage, and the effectiveness of grievance redress systems under the centrally sponsored schemes. District administrations have been directed to make necessary arrangements for the visit and facilitate meetings with beneficiaries and local officials.

The visit assumes significance as it seeks to evaluate the implementation of social security programmes and strengthen service delivery mechanisms for vulnerable sections of society, including senior citizens, widows, and persons with disabilities.
