Bhubaneswar: A jewellery store owner from Santaragadia Square under Nilagiri police limits in Balasore district was robbed of gold ornaments worth Rs 50 lakh by four armed men on Wednesday night.
According to reports, the incident occurred when Krupasindhu Rana (52), the jeweller, was on his way home after closing his shop. The robbers, who were on two bikes, intercepted Rana, threatened him with a gun, and snatched the gold bag from him.
Fortunately, Rana escaped unhurt despite being fired at. The police arrived at the scene after receiving the information and started an investigation.
The Nilgiri IIC, Gobardhan Nayak, seized the bullet shells from the spot. However, as of Thursday morning, Rana had not filed any complaint with the police.
