Good News For Dairy Farmers! OMFED Hikes Milk Procurement Price By Rs 1/Litre

Bhubaneswar: In a major relief to dairy farmers across Odisha, the Odisha State Cooperative Milk Producers’ Federation (OMFED) has announced an increase of Rs 1 per litre in the milk procurement price.
The new revised rate will come into effect from today, May 1, 2026. With this hike, dairy farmers will now receive Rs 39.05 per litre, up from the previous rate of Rs 38.05 per litre.

The decision has been taken in view of the continuously rising cost of milk production. Farmers have been demanding a price revision due to the sharp increase in expenses on cattle feed, fodder, hay, veterinary medicines, and other maintenance costs.

OMFED officials stated that the price hike aims to boost the income of dairy farmers and provide them much-needed financial support. The federation said it remains committed to taking proactive steps for the welfare of milk producers and ensuring sustainable growth of the dairy sector in the state.

This announcement on International Labour Day is being seen as a positive step by the government towards strengthening the rural economy and supporting the livelihoods of thousands of dairy farming families in Odisha.
