Koraput: A goods train derailed on the Koraput–Kirandul railway line on Saturday after one of its wagons went off the tracks near Telengiri Nala, between Manabar and Jharati.
According to preliminary information, the freight train was en route from Kirandul carrying goods when the incident occurred. One bogie (wagon) reportedly derailed at the site, disrupting movement along the section.
Soon after the mishap, a special rescue and restoration team from Koraput railway station rushed to the spot and initiated relief operations. Railway officials are working to clear the affected wagon and restore normalcy at the earliest.
Sources indicated that the derailed wagon will be removed shortly and train services on the route are expected to resume once the track is declared safe for operations.
No injuries or casualties have been reported in connection with the incident so far. Further details are awaited.
