Bhubaneswar: Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati stressed the importance of maintaining good coordination among concerned departments for the timely implementation of ongoing projects while reviewing the current status of various projects related to national highways, aviation, and railways at Raj Bhavan on Thursday.
The Governor emphasised that the benefits of investment in highways should be visible to the public and inquired about passenger amenities on highways and arrangements for electric vehicle charging stations. He also reviewed the progress of redevelopment work at Bhubaneswar Railway Station and advised railway authorities to consult the state government before finalising project alignments.
In the aviation sector, Dr. Kambhampati suggested setting up heliports in two or three places in the state under the public-private partnership mode. He also stressed the need to expand state-owned airstrip runways to facilitate flight operations and inquired about the Cadet Pilot Program for tribal girls.
The Governor further suggested developing cruise terminals around green film terminals in ports to attract cruise ships and boost tourism. He emphasised introducing fishing jetties in ports to ensure the livelihood of fishermen. Additionally, he suggested starting driving training courses in government polytechnics and ITIs to increase employment opportunities for students.
The review meeting saw participation from senior officials of various departments, including Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari and Commerce and Transport Minister Bibhuti Bhushan Jena. Senior officials, including Additional Chief Secretary, Forest, Environment and Water Resources Department Satyabrat Sahu, Additional Chief Secretary, Revenue and Disaster Management Department Deo Ranjan Kumar Singh, Principal Secretary, Commerce and Transport Department Usha Padhee, and Principal Secretary, Works Department Sanjay Kumar Singh were prominently present.
