Bhubaneswar: The Higher Education Department has announced guidelines for engaging retired academicians as Guest Faculties in Non-Government Aided Colleges of the State, including 488 and 662 Category colleges and Sanskrit Colleges. The decision aims to utilise the expertise of retired academicians in the current academic session until regular vacancies are filled.

The colleges are required to implement all modules of the Higher Education Institutions Management System (HIMS) by October 31, 2025, to be eligible for engaging Guest Faculties. The vacancy details will be uploaded on the HIMS portal, and advertisements will be published in at least two widely circulated Odia dailies.

The move is expected to benefit both the institutions and the retired academicians, ensuring continuity in education and sharing of expertise.
