Commerce and Transport Minister Bibhuti Bhusan Jena

Bhubaneswar: In a bid to curb vehicular pollution, Odisha Transport Minister Bibhuti Jena announced that vehicles with valid pollution certificates will soon be required to display a green sticker. The initiative coincides with the upcoming Road Safety Month and aims to ensure compliance with emission norms.

“Action will be taken against vehicles lacking a pollution certificate,” Jena warned, emphasising the importance of adhering to environmental regulations. The move is part of efforts to improve air quality and road safety in the state.

The minister also hinted at revisiting the increased fines imposed in 2019, stating, “We will try to reduce the fines, which are currently higher compared to other states.” Jena assured that both new and old vehicles are being tested, with proof of compliance being verified.

The introduction of green stickers is expected to streamline the process of identifying vehicles that meet pollution standards, making it easier for authorities to enforce regulations.
