Bhubaneswar: A shocking incident of domestic violence has rocked Rudhiapada village under Patna block in Keonjhar district, where a youth allegedly beat his aunt to death with a wooden stick following a heated argument over land dispute.
The victim has been identified as Kausalya, an elderly woman from Khadibedasahi in Rudhiapada village.
According to preliminary reports, Bidyadhar returned home heavily intoxicated on Friday evening and got into a verbal altercation with his aunt Kausalya over some issue. The dispute quickly escalated, and in a fit of anger, Bidyadhar picked up a wooden stick and brutally assaulted her. Kausalya sustained severe injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition. However, doctors declared her dead on arrival.
Ghatagaon police reached the spot immediately after receiving information. The body was seized and sent for post-mortem examination. Bidyadhar has been detained by the police and is currently being interrogated.
Investigating officers suspect that an ongoing land dispute may have triggered the violent incident. Police are trying to ascertain the exact motive behind the murder.
