Bhubaneswar: Eight masked robbers, posing as people seeking water, robbed a house at Bayapandadhar under Sadar police station limits in Keonjhar, leaving a family shocked and terrified.
According to reports, the miscreants allegedly forced their way into Sangram Kesari Naik’s house late Sunday night, looting cash and gold worth Rs 17 lakh.
The miscreants staged a drama, claiming one of their associates had met with an accident and needed water. As soon as the family opened the door, the armed robbers forced their way in, pointing guns at family members, snatching their phones, and locking them in a room. They broke open storage units, looting Rs 6.80 lakh cash and Rs 11 lakh worth of gold jewellery. They managed to flee the scene after committing the crime.
Police have launched an investigation, with a search operation underway to track down the accused.
