Puri: Odisha Governor Professor Ganeshi Lal on Friday hoisted a 108-foot tall monument flag at Batagaon Street, Birharekrishnapur village in Odisha’s Puri district on the occasion of the National Flag Foundation Day.
The 36 feet long and 24 feet wide flag was hoisted at 11:00 am at the entrance of the holy city of Puri. This is the second monument flag in Puri as the first one was hoisted some time back in front of Puri railway station.
The monument Tricolour was hoisted using an electronic device. Naveen Jindal, president of the Flag Foundation of India, was present on the occasion along with Education Minister Sameer Ranjan Das, sportsperson Tusarkanti Behera and local MLA Jayant Shadangi.
Addressing the gathering, Jindal said that the time has come for all Indians to be proud of flying the Tricolour at their residences and establishments. Doing so will spread feelings of patriotism among the people, he added.
Speaking on the occasion, Governor Professor Ganesh Lal said that the Indian national flag has the colour of peace, friendship and goodwill.
