Half-Burnt Body Of Former MLA’s Wife Seized From Crematorium In Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police today seized the half-burnt body of the wife of former Brahmagiri MLA Ajay Jena from Satya Nagar cremation ground in Bhubaneswar.

The daughter-in-law was conducting the last rites of deceased Ashrukana Pradhan who is the wife of former Brahmagiri MLA Ajay Jena .  Ashrukana’s brother alleged that the cremation was performed without conducting a post-mortem.

Ashrukana’s brother claimed that his sister (deceased) was subjected to torture and was under house arrest for over a month. However, her daughter-in-law denied any wrongdoing, stating she followed proper procedures after Ashrukana’s death at a private clinic.

The sister of the deceased lodged a police complaint. She alleged that her sister Ashrukana was subjected to torture and was under house arrest for over one month. She said that her family members were not allowed to meet her.

Police have sent the body for autopsy and registered a case based on the sister’s complaint. An investigation is underway.
