Bhubaneswar: The half-burnt body of an unidentified man was recovered near Kelucharan Park under Gadakana area in Bhubaneswar on Wednesday, triggering panic in the locality.
It is suspected that the man was killed elsewhere and the body was later set on fire in an attempt to destroy evidence.
The deceased is yet to be identified and the exact reason behind his death remains unclear. The body bore extensive burn injuries and the shirt he was wearing was also found burnt.
Police suspect that the body had been lying at the spot for the past few days. Investigators are probing whether the victim was murdered and then burnt to conceal his identity.
Meanwhile, a scientific team reached the spot along with police and has started collecting samples from the scene.
