Bhubaneswar: A half-charred body of a young man was found near Jagannath Vidyapeeth in the Badagada area under Sheragad police limits in Ganjam district on Saturday.

According to reports, local residents alerted the police after spotting the body in an open field situated near a slum and a school. The police are suspecting foul play in the incident as witnesses have reported noticing a cut mark on the neck of the deceased, indicating a possible violent altercation.

The youth reportedly sustained around 70 per cent burns. It is being suspected that the youth might have been killed elsewhere and later brought to the spot to be set on fire.

A scientific team, accompanied by police officials, reached the site and has begun conducting a detailed investigation into the matter.

Police, meanwhile, began an investigation to get clues that could potentially help establish the sequence of events leading up to the incident.
