Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance officials today apprehended Inspector In Charge (IIC) of Harbhanga police station in Boudh district Puspalata Routray while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 1,00,000 from a quarry lease holder.
Accused Routray had taken the bribe to allow the quarry lease holder to carry out his business activities without harassment.
Vigilance officials have seized the entire bribe money upon recovery from Routray.
The anti-corruption agency has registered a case in this connection at Berhampur Vigilance police station under section 7 of the PC Amendment Act of 2018.
Further investigation in the matter is under progress.
