Bhubaneswar: In a collaborative effort to address the demand for coins in the local market, HDFC Bank, in association with the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), Bhubaneswar, organised a mega mobile van coin mela at Unit-4 market, one of the largest retail markets in Bhubaneswar.

The event was inaugurated by Debasish Sahoo, Senior Official of RBI, along with prominent figures including Abu Bakar Khan, Member of the Fish Market Association (Jay Hanuman Matsya Sangha), Animesh Biswal, Senior Vice President of the Bank, Suraj Chhetri, Odisha Ops Head, and Sambit Mohapatra, Currency Chest Head of the Bank.

The coin mela aimed to cater to the needs of small traders and local vendors who frequently face a shortage of coins. A total of Rs 20 lakhs in coins was distributed among the public, benefiting small vendors and locals alike. The initiative was widely appreciated by the beneficiaries, who expressed gratitude towards RBI and HDFC Bank for addressing their needs.

The success of this event has prompted HDFC Bank to plan more such coin ‘melas’ in different markets across Bhubaneswar in the coming days.
