Bhubaneswar: Severe heat wave continued to grip several parts of Odisha on Friday, with western and northern districts bearing the maximum brunt.
Jharsuguda emerged as the hottest place in the state, recording a blistering maximum temperature of 45.2 degrees Celsius.
The intense heat showed little mercy as Boudh followed closely at 44.5°C, while Sambalpur registered 44.2°C. Bolangir and Titlagarh both sizzled at 44°C.
Other districts also reported high temperatures with Bhawanipatna and Hirakud recording 43.6°C each, Nuapada at 43.2°C, Sonepur at 42.1°C, Sundargarh at 41.8°C, Malkangiri at 41.6°C, and Bargarh at 41.4°C.
The prevailing heat wave conditions have raised concerns among residents and authorities, with meteorologists warning that such extreme temperatures may persist in the coming days. People have been advised to stay hydrated, avoid direct sun exposure during peak hours, and take necessary precautions to prevent heat-related illnesses.
