Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has asked all Collectors to take necessary steps in view of the heat wave this year.
In a letter, the Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Department directed the Collectors to make arrangements to avoid any eventuality caused by the upcoming heat wave situation.
The department has issued guidelines for Fair Price Shop, which include:
- Foodgrain distribution under PDS should be regulated to 7 AM – 10 AM and 5 PM – 8 PM.
- Temporary shades may be set up at FPS points to protect beneficiaries from heat exposure during summer.
- Adequate arrangements for drinking water and ORS should be made in all FPS and Depots/RRCs.
- The time for lifting foodgrains may also be regulated to avoid heatwave during loading and handling.
- Beneficiaries and workers should be made aware of heat wave precautions through pamphlets and posters at FPS and RRCs.
Officials of the Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Department should remain vigilant and ensure necessary precautionary arrangements for heatwave during lifting and distribution of foodgrains.
