Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a yellow warning for heatwave conditions in several districts of Odisha from March 14 to 16.
According to the IMD’s prediction, heatwave conditions are very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Boudh, Sonepur, Balangir, Bargarh, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, and Sambalpur on March 14.
“Heat wave condition is very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Boudh, Sonepur, Bolangir, Bargarh, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda and Sambalpur,” read the IMD prediction for March 14.
The warning has been extended to March 15 and 16, with the addition of Angul district to the list.
The IMD has predicted that heatwave conditions are very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Angul, Boudh, Sonepur, Balangir, Bargarh, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, and Sambalpur on both days. These districts have been issued yellow warnings.
Residents of these districts are advised to take necessary precautions to avoid heat-related illnesses, such as staying hydrated, avoiding travel during the hottest part of the day, and taking regular breaks in cool, shaded areas.
