Morning Classes

Cuttack: In view of prevailing heatwave-like conditions across the district, the Cuttack District Administration on Sunday revised the timings of all educational institutions and Anganwadi centres, directing them to function during early morning hours to ensure the safety of children.

According to an official order issued by the Office of the District Magistrate and Collector, Cuttack (District Emergency Operation Centre), all government, government-aided, and private schools in the district will now conduct classes from 6:30 am and conclude by 9:00 am. The revised schedule has been introduced as a precautionary measure in response to rising daytime temperatures.

Similarly, all Anganwadi centres under the district have been instructed to operate within the same time frame and close by 9:00 am. The move aims to minimise exposure of children to extreme heat during peak hours of the day.

The order further directed all heads of institutions and concerned authorities to ensure strict compliance with the revised schedule. Educational institutions have also been advised to make adequate arrangements, including the provision of safe drinking water and strict avoidance of outdoor activities during operational hours.

The administration has warned that any violation of the directive will be viewed seriously and may attract action under relevant provisions.

Officials said that weather conditions will be monitored on a daily basis, and further instructions will be issued if required. The current order will remain in force until it is revised or withdrawn by the authorities.

The decision comes amid a sharp rise in temperatures across Odisha, where several districts have been experiencing intense heatwave conditions over the past few days.
