Balangir: Amid intensifying heatwave conditions across Odisha, the district administration in Balangir has ordered the closure of all educational institutions from April 18 to April 21 as a precautionary measure to safeguard students.
The decision was taken by the District Collector following a sharp rise in daytime temperatures, which has made it increasingly unsafe for students to attend classes. Officials said the move is aimed at minimizing exposure to extreme heat and preventing heat-related illnesses among children and young adults.
As per the directive, all schools, colleges, and other educational institutions in the district will remain closed during the specified period. The administration has further stated that a decision on whether to extend the closure will be taken after reviewing the prevailing weather conditions in the coming days.
Odisha has been grappling with an intense heatwave, with several districts reporting unusually high temperatures, prompting authorities to take precautionary steps to ensure public safety.
