Bhubaneswar: Deomali town in Odisha recorded the highest temperature in the state on Monday, with the mercury soaring to 45.9°C, according to data released by the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
Several other regions in the state also experienced intense heatwave conditions. Sambalpur and Hirakud registered 40.6°C, while Jharsuguda recorded 40.0°C. Bolangir reported 38.8°C, followed closely by Talcher at 38.4°C, and Bhawanipatna at 38.0°C.
In other parts, Khordha saw a maximum of 39.0°C, Keonjhar recorded 37.3°C, and Angul reported 37.1°C.
The IMD has advised people to take necessary precautions to avoid heat-related illnesses as the temperature is expected to remain high in several districts over the coming days.
