Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow warnings for several parts of Odisha over the next five days, forecasting heavy rainfall and thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds.
For July 21, heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Sundargarh, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, and Mayurbhanj. Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty surface winds (speed reaching 30-40 kmph) are expected at one or two places over Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khurda, and Nayagarh.
On July 22, heavy rainfall is likely at one or two places in Sundargarh, Keonjhar, and Mayurbhanj, while thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds are expected over Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khurda, and Nayagarh.
The warning for July 23 indicates heavy rainfall at one or two places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, and Mayurbhanj. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds (30-40 kmph) will likely affect Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghapur, Cuttack, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khurda, and Nayagarh.
On July 24, the IMD has forecast thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds over Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, and Mayurbhanj.
For July 25, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty surface winds are likely at one or two places in Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, and Sambalpur.
The IMD has advised people, especially those in coastal and northern districts, to remain alert and take necessary precautions during thunderstorms and heavy rainfall.
Farmers, fishermen, and travellers have been asked to monitor official weather updates closely as conditions may change rapidly.
