Bhubaneswar: Coastal districts of Odisha received heavy rainfall in the past 24 hours, with Bhubaneswar recording the highest at 107.9 mm till 8:30 am on Thursday.
According to data released for coastal Odisha by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), several stations recorded significant rain. Jenapur in Jajpur district recorded 106.8 mm, while Patamundai in Kendrapada received 100.0 mm rainfall.
Multiple areas in Kataka district also witnessed heavy showers. Mahanga recorded 92.0 mm, followed by Nischintakoili with 82.0 mm, Kantapada with 81.0 mm, and Salipur with 65.0 mm.
Bhandaripokhari in Bhadrak received 80.0 mm rain. In Jajpur, Sukinda recorded 76.0 mm, Jajpur town 75.0 mm, and Bari 65.0 mm. Balasore district recorded 74.8 mm at Rajghat, 68.0 mm at Bhogorai, and 66.2 mm at NH-5, Govindpur. Biridi in Jagatsinghpur received 72.0 mm, while Aul in Kendrapada recorded 66.0 mm.
The rainfall is likely to provide relief from heat but may also lead to waterlogging in low-lying areas. Officials have advised people to remain cautious.
