Bhubaneswar: Several districts in western Odisha experienced heavy to very heavy rainfall during the past 24 hours, even though the statewide average rainfall remained normal.

According to the Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar, Baragarh district recorded the highest rainfall with 109 mm at Bijepur station. This was followed by Sundargarh with 106 mm at Balishankara and Jharsuguda with 105.6 mm at Kolabira station.

Baragarh’s Barapali also received 100 mm of rain, while Sonepur’s Dunguripali recorded 93 mm.

Other notable rainfall was reported from Sambalpur, Bolangir, and parts of Jharsuguda, with many stations recording between 60 to 89 mm of rainfall in the last 24 hours.

The average rainfall across Odisha in the past 24 hours stood at 10.8 mm, which is exactly equal to the normal rainfall for this period, resulting in a zero per cent departure from the average.

While western and northern districts received good rainfall, many southern and coastal areas continued to experience dry weather with minimal or no rain.
