Mayurbhanj: In view of the heavy rainfall that lashed Mayurbhanj district since Sunday morning and is continuing, all schools in the district will remain closed on August 17, 2026, as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of students.
The decision has been taken as per the direction of the Collector and District Magistrate, Mayurbhanj. All Block Education Officers (BEOs) have been instructed to inform the Headmasters/Headmistresses of all Government, Government-aided and private schools from the primary to higher secondary levels under their respective jurisdictions about the closure.
However, Headmasters, Headmistresses, Principals and teachers have been directed to attend their respective schools as usual. They have also been asked to inform students and their parents or guardians about the closure through available communication channels, including class WhatsApp groups, phone calls and SMS, to ensure that no student reports to school.
The closure has been ordered as a precautionary measure in view of the prevailing weather conditions and to safeguard students amid the continuing heavy rainfall.
