Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued nowcast warnings for several districts in Odisha, alerting residents to potential thunderstorms, heavy rain, and strong winds.
The nowcast warnings were issued at 2:15PM.
An orange alert has been issued for Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Angul, Dhenkanal, Ganjam, and Gajapati districts. These districts are expected to experience moderate thunderstorms with hail, lightning and surface winds reaching 40-50 kmph within the next two to three hours.
This may cause minor damage to loose structures, banana trees, and standing crops.
A yellow alert has been issued for districts including Bargarh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Nabarangapur, Koraput, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Nayagarh, Cuttack, Jajpur, Bhadrak, and Balasore. These districts may face light to moderate thunderstorms with lightning and surface winds reaching 30-40 kmph.
Residents are advised to monitor the weather and take necessary precautions to ensure safety.
