Heavy Rains

Bhubaneswar: A low-pressure area has formed over the Northwest Bay of Bengal as of 0530 hrs IST today, September 2, 2025, due to the influence of an upper air cyclonic circulation over northeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining Myanmar coast.

According to the regional India Meteorological Department, this system is expected to become more marked over the same region in the next 24 hours.

According to the latest weather update, the low-pressure area will move west-northwestwards across Odisha in the subsequent 24 hours, potentially bringing heavy to very heavy rainfall and thunderstorm activity to various districts.

Meanwhile, the weather department has issued a warning for Koraput and Malkangiri districts today, cautioning of heavy to extremely heavy rainfall today. Similarly, districts such as Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Gajapati, Nabarangapur, and Nuapada are likely to experience heavy rainfall today.

In light of the weather forecast, fishermen are warned not to venture into the sea between September 2 and 4 due to rough sea conditions. Residents in affected districts are advised to stay alert, avoid unnecessary travel, and take necessary precautions against possible weather disruptions.
