Bhubaneswar: Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Satyabrata Sahu held a review meeting on Friday in light of the anticipated severe rains in Odisha caused by low pressure in the coming days.
According to the India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) forecast, heavy rainfall would first affect western Odisha regions, and then until July 26 and 27, more rain will fall in coastal areas.
“In light of the IMD’s projection for significant rainfall, we have urged district Collectors and administration to be vigilant and take all appropriate action. The authorities have been tasked with keeping a watchful eye on any weak spots,” according to Sahu.
The SRC further disclosed that a conversation with the Malkangiri Collector had taken place and that no unfavourable incidents have been reported thus far.
“Apart from seven to eight districts, the rainfall deficit situation has eased to a great extent following the recent spell of heavy rainfall. This will help the farmers to go ahead with the agricultural activities,” said Sahu
The SRC stated that there is no cause for alarm in light of the planned opening of the Hirakud dam’s gates because the majority of the state’s rivers are dry and it will not have any consequences.
