Bhubaneswar: A cyclonic circulation has formed over the northwest Bay of Bengal and its adjoining West Bengal and Odisha coast on Sunday. Due to its impact, a low-pressure system is likely to form over the northwest Bay of Bengal region by September 2, according to the India Meteorological Department.
This system is expected to cause heavy rainfall in southern Odisha, particularly in the districts of Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangapur, Kalahandi, and others.
Meanwhile, the regional weather office has issued a weather alert for the next 24 hours, predicting rainfall in many areas of North and South Odisha.
An orange alert has been issued for Kalahandi, Kandhamal, and Koraput districts, warning of the likelihood of extremely heavy rainfall. A warning has also been issued for Rayagada, Malkangiri, Nabarangapur, Gajapati, Balangir, and Nuapada districts due to heavy rainfall.
Residents of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Sundergarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Subarnapur, and Boudh districts are advised to be cautious due to rainfall with lightning and thunderstorms.
