Bhubaneswar: Several stations in northern Odisha, particularly Mayurbhanj district, recorded heavy to very heavy rainfall in the past 24 hours, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
As per IMD data, Bangiriposhi in Mayurbhanj topped the list with 159.0 mm of rainfall, followed by Chandanpur (99.6 mm) and Bijatala (90.0 mm) in the same district. Other notable amounts include Bhogorai in Baleshwar (73.0 mm), Sarasakana in Mayurbhanj (72.0 mm), Joda in Kendujhar (58.4 mm), Jamda in Mayurbhanj (56.0 mm), and Remuna in Baleshwar (53.0 mm).
Mayurbhanj dominated the chief rainfall amounts. Despite these heavy spells in isolated pockets, the state’s district average rainfall remained largely deficient at 4.5 mm against the normal of 12.1 mm, registering a departure of –63%.
