Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rainfall in several parts of Odisha during the next two days.
The IMD has issued ‘Red’ alert predicting heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20 cm) at a few places over the districts of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Bolangir, Sonepur, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Keonjhar, Boudh with isolated extremely heavy rainfall (>20cm) is very likely to occur over the districts of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Bolangir, Sonepur, and Sambalpur on Wednesday.
Similarly, the IMD has issued ‘Orange’ alert predicting heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20cm) is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Dhenkanal, Mayurbhanj, Nuapada, Kalahandi, and Kandhamal on Wednesday.
Besides, a ‘Yellow’ alert has been issued by the IMD predicting heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Cuttack, Nayagarh, Nawarangpur, and Jajpur on Wednesday.
Moreover, the IMD has issued a ‘Yellow’ alert predicting heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, and Bargarh on Thursday.
However, light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at most places over the districts of the State during the next five days, the IMD said.
According to the IMD, Wednesday’s Deep Depression now lies over Gangetic West Bengal moved west-northwestwards with a speed of 20 kmph during past 6 hours and lay centred at 0830 hours IST of 02nd August 2023 over the same region near latitude 23.2°N and longitude 87.1°E, close to Bankura (West Bengal), about 70 km east-southeast of Purulia (West Bengal) and 180 km east of Ranchi. It is likely to move west-northwestwards across Jharkhand and weaken gradually into a Depression during the next 12 hours and into a Well Marked Low Pressure Area during the subsequent 24 hours.

Yellow Warning (Be updated) Heavy Rainfall (7 to 11cm) very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Cuttack, Nayagarh, Nawarangpur, Jajpur.

Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at many places over the districts of Interior Odisha and at a few places over the districts of Coastal Odisha.
Yellow Warning (Be updated) Heavy Rainfall (7 to 11cm) is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundergarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh.

Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of Odisha.
