Bhubaneswar: After the death of the third injured person who earlier claimed himself as Dilip Samantray, question arises over the real claimant of the body.

The hospital authorities put the ball in the court of police. CEO Smita Padhi said “We will hand over the body to the police with a written report mentioning that the man who died on Friday night was undergoing treatment in the name of Jyoti Ranjan and later he identified himself as Dilip Samantray. Police will decide regarding handing over the body. If police suggest for DNA test to find out the real identity, we would follow the instructions accordingly.”

“The man claimed to be Dilip was out on a ventilator on Friday. His condition again deteriorated in the night and he was put on ventilator again. Despite all the efforts of doctors, he breathed his last at around 3 am,” Smita informed.

On the other hand, the family of Dilip, after hearing their son was very much alive, ran to the hospital on Friday and met him at the bed.

His mother, now, leveled serious allegation of murder against hospital authorities. “I was talking to my son till 1 am last night. At 2 am, they told me that your son’s condition is critical and later at around 3 am, they said that he is no more,” his mother said.

They have killed my son deliberately, she alleged.

Meanwhile, a team of police headed by an additional DCP reached the hospital and launched an investigation. Police also informed that a DNA test will be conducted to identify the body.

“As dispute arises out of identification process, we will definitely conduct a DNA test. We have called both families for their consultation. We are investigating the matter with all precautions as the case is a complicated one. We will conduct the inquest with consultation of both families,” said Prakash Chandra Pal, additional DCP.
