Bhubaneswar: Coastal Odisha continued to reel under severe discomfort on Wednesday due to very high humidity levels.

According to the humidity report recorded at 11:30 am today, several coastal areas experienced extremely high moisture in the air, leading to unbearable stuffiness. Gopalpur recorded the highest humidity at 79.1%, followed by Puri at 74.2% and Paradeep at 72.8%.

Cities like Bhubaneswar and Balasore registered moderate levels. Bhubaneswar recorded 61.6% humidity at that time, Balasore recorded 64.3% and Chandbali 63.3%, while Rourkela was at 51%.

In sharp contrast, the western and northern parts of the state witnessed much lower humidity levels. Jharsuguda recorded the lowest humidity at just 30.1%, while Keonjhar, Hirakud, and Sambalpur also remained relatively comfortable with humidity below 50%.

The high humidity has caused significant discomfort among residents, with many complaining of excessive sweating and uneasiness even during morning hours.

Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has advised people to stay hydrated, consume plenty of fluids, and take necessary precautions to beat the humid conditions.
