Bhubaneswar: A high-level workshop on the implementation of Odisha Vision 2036 and 2047 was convened today at Kharavel Bhavan in Bhubaneswar, under the theme “Viksit Odisha for Viksit Bharat.”
The session was chaired by Usha Padhee, Principal Secretary of Commerce & Transport and Housing & Urban Development Departments. The workshop was facilitated by McKinsey & Company, the strategic knowledge partner for the Vision Document.
The event aimed to align Odisha’s long-term development agenda with India’s goal of becoming a developed nation by 2047. Key targets outlined included achieving a GSDP of USD 1.5 trillion by 2047, contributing 5% to the national GDP, and creating over 1 crore non-farm jobs.
The Vision 2036 & 2047 is anchored on six core themes: People First, Rural Empowerment, Prosperity for All, Legacy with Pride, Tech-led Growth, and People-Centric Governance. A major highlight was the unveiling of the “36 for 36” flagship programmes, aimed at accelerating transformation across critical sectors including infrastructure, education, healthcare, tourism, skilling, agriculture, and climate resilience.
During the session, participants reviewed implementation models, including a detailed roadmap for Sambalpur Municipal Corporation, illustrating ground-level execution of the vision. Padhee stressed the importance of building institutional capacity, adopting data-driven governance, and fostering departmental convergence for timely and measurable outcomes.
The workshop also introduced key mechanisms such as real-time dashboards, embedded Project Monitoring Units, and a Whole-of-Government approach to ensure seamless execution.
Both departments have been assigned specific Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and responsibilities across developmental initiatives to realize the Viksit Odisha vision.
The session was attended by senior officials from the Commerce & Transport and Housing & Urban Development Departments, who shared insights on infrastructure development, urban transformation, and inter-departmental coordination for a developed and inclusive Odisha.
