Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday launched the transformed and upgraded Bhima Bhoi High School for the Blind and Bipin Bihari Chowdhury High School for the Hearing Impaired as Vocational Higher Secondary Schools at Unit III in Bhubaneswar.
Visually impaired and hearing impaired students from across the State can take admission and study +2 at these schools which have hostel facilities. At the Bhima Bhoi High School, the students can study Arts and IT while at the Bipin Bihari Chowdhury High School, they can study Science and IT.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister inaugurated an audio studio for visually impaired children and a virtual studio for hearing impaired children. He distributed bedrolls and dinner plates to the children. Refrigerators and television sets have also been installed on the campuses.
The teacher-pupil ratio of these two schools is one teacher for every ten students. This year, 10 students from Bhim Bhoi School and 14 students from Bipin Bihari Chowdhury School have passed the matric examination. Under the 5T high school transformation program, the two schools have been equipped with useful smart classrooms, e-libraries, science labs, and various sports facilities.
Students of Bhima Bhoi Blind School welcomed the Chief Minister by playing instruments and singing songs. Sudam Marandi, Minister of Schools and Mass Education was present on the occasion and encouraged the students of both the schools.
5T Secretary VK Pandian, S&ME Department Principal Secretary Ashwathy S., Director of Higher Secondary Education Raghuram R. Iyer, OSEPA State Project Director Anupam Saha, District Collector Khurda K. Sudharshan Chakraborty, Director of Secondary Education Sushant Kumar Das, and Director of Primary Education Jyoti Ranjan Mishra were present on the occasion.
