Koraput: A high-voltage electricity transmission tower collapsed near Maliguda station on the Koraput-Jagdalpur railway line due to continuous heavy rain and strong winds prevailing in Koraput district under the influence of a deep depression.
According to local reports, the tower first developed a bend due to the impact of strong winds and incessant rainfall and later gradually collapsed to the ground. No casualties have been reported in the incident, but power transmission in the area is likely to be affected.
The district has been witnessing continuous downpour and gusty winds for the last few days under the influence of the weather system.
