Sambalpur: Two more sluice gates at Hirakud Dam have been closed. At present, floodwater is being released through only two gates — one on the left and one on the right.
Earlier at 9 am today, four sluice gates were open (three on the left and one on the right). Fresh orders were issued to close two of them, reducing the number of open gates to two. The reservoir water level stood at 624.69 feet and was rising. Average inflow was recorded at 1,37,750 cusecs (decreasing), while average outflow stood at 1,26,703 cusecs (falling).
Of the total outflow, 91,680 cusecs was released through the spillway, 32,082 cusecs through the power channel, 229 cusecs for industrial use and 2,712 cusecs through canals.
