Home Dept Puts Collectors On Alert Ahead Of Odisha Bandh

Bhubaneswar: The Home Department today put all Collectors and District Magistrates on alert in view of the statewide Odisha Bandh called by the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) bloc.

In a letter to all Collectors and District Magistrates, the Home Department stated that members of some political parties including Congress, CPI, CPI(M), CPI(ML) Liberation, Forward Bloc, NCP, Samajwadi Party etc. have proposed to stage statewide bandh on 08.10.2026 from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM in shape of road blockades, rallies, demonstrations, picketing, Rail Roko, and closure of mines, government offices, educational institutions, markets and commercial establishments etc. across the State over various demands.

“It is therefore requested to take all preventive and precautionary security measures to maintain law and order and remain alert against any untoward incident during the general strike on 08.10.2026. Requisite arrangement may also be made to ensure smooth functioning of Central Government / State Government offices in the State. Situation may be kept under close watch to ensure maintenance of essential services in the State,” the letter added.

Collectors have been asked to coordinate with district SPs, keep close watch on sensitive pockets and ensure adequate security for government offices and essential services.
