Bhubaneswar: A candidate lost his life during the physical examination for Home Guard recruitment in Deogarh district on Wednesday.

The deceased, identified as Saheba Dehury (19), was the son of Pradeep Kumar Dehury, a resident of Budido village in the Reamal block of Deogarh district.

According to reports, a notification was issued for the recruitment of 60 Home Guard posts in Deogarh district. In line with this, the physical examination was conducted on Wednesday.

During the test, Saheba collapsed while running and fell unconscious. Police personnel on duty immediately rescued him and rushed him to the Deogarh District Headquarters Hospital (DHH), where he was declared dead upon arrival.

The deceased’s family has raised concerns, alleging that his death was caused by the extreme heat during the physical test.
